Spotlight PicturesThis page will change periodically. This is a place to see recent pictures of places, people, or events which we have really enjoyed. Please remember all but the first picture are just thumbnails, click on any picture that you would like to see larger. At the bottom of this page, you will find links to past Spotlight Pictures pages. This current spotlight picture page is dedicated to my new favorite state, Oregon. It was my 49th state to visit and is by far one of my favorites. From the coast of Oregon which is full of beautiful, unspoiled, clean, unpopulated beaches to the inland which varies from volcanic mountains and lakes to the high desert area. The people of Oregon have all been welcoming, the weather has been the perfect temperature, and the beer is good! First, the Park I waited so long to see. Crater Lake National Park. Above you can see the perfect picture really showing the blue of he water. The island you see is called the Phantom Ship. 1 and 2) If you were able to open up these 2 pictures side by side you would see the whole lake. These were taken from the top of Mt. Scott which is the hike we took on our second day in the park. I think these pictures help to see the cone shape of the lake or the shape of the volcano that fell into itself. 3) Christine and Joe enjoying one of many viewpoints. 4) If you took the mountains out I'm not sure you could tell the difference between the lake and the sky. 5) The island in this view is called Wizard Island. 1) Open this picture, it is gorgeous! This is part of the John Day Fossil Bed National Monument. It was a very nice side trip. 2-4) These are all pictures taken in the Oregon Sand Dunes National Recreational Area. We took a long walk on the dunes and it was very windy. The Dunes are right on the Ocean. In the first picture you can see two 4-wheel vehicles. You could rent these to drive on the dunes. 1) A view of one of the many long, sandy, clean beaches along the Oregon coast. 2) The Cape Blanco Lighthouse, just South of Bandon, Oregon. 3) Another section of the beach, note the large rocks. These are all along the coast and they add great character to the beaches. To return to the current spotlight pictures page click here. |
