Rowing on Flaming Gorge, 2006

Introduction note: The first line of pictures is from the annual Great Salt Lake Rowing Club outing to Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The club much prefers rowing on the clear, clean water of Flaming Gorge versus the Great Salt Lake.

The second line of pictures is from a camping weekend that we took along Sheep Creek as it drains into the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Joe tried (unsuccessfully) to catch some fish while Christine enjoyed the water. Christine and her boat are small, while the water is big. She is the long white sliver in these photos.

Joe built me a boathouse this summer. We originally had storage plans for the boat elsewhere, but that never panned out. At 26' the boat is longer than our garage, so this is what we finally ended up with. The boathouse is an open lean-to built along our property fence. It allows the outriggers to remain installed on the boat at all times. Joe built a drawer using garge door rails so that the boat can be rolled out and easily lifted directly onto my car. This will make solo rowing so much easier.

You can see car access through gate.
View from our deck shows how protected the boat is.
It stores the oars and the car carrier as well.
Here the boat drawer is rolled out for easy access.
