Red Canyon Float- August, 2007

Introduction note (by Joe): Christine had been wanting to row her scull through the Red Canyon part of Flaming Gorge Reservoir for quite some time. Red Canyon accounts for the last twelve miles of the Green River behind the Flaming Gorge Dam. Christine put the word out to some friends and we ended up with seven folks for a fun weekend of camping and floating. Christine brought her rowing shell, Lorna Lange & Marco Cortes brought their canoe, and Jackie Bassham brought his kayak. We hung out at the Cedar Springs Campround and rented a pontoon boat for a day from the marina so that we could all spend some time on the water. We also enjoyed several mountain biking outings and some unproductive fishing. Our evenings were spent watching the Perseids Meteor Shower. It was really a great weekend. Kirk Moushegian and Gwen Plumert rounded out the seven. You can see the walls of Red Canyon towering 1500 feet above us in many of the photos below.
