Introduction note: Christine and I were eager to get into the mountains for some camping on this first weekend of summer. At our elevation, getting into the mountains this early can mean encountering snow. We reduced our risk by opting to car camp at Hoop Lake and then go for a long day hike. We were surprised to find so little snow remaining in June, especially after the heavy spring precipitation we received. Car camping provides the opportunity to bring so much more stuff. Christine brought her rowing shell and I brought my fishing gear so we could enjoy the recreation possibilities on Hoop Lake. Marco and Lorna joined us, so we added in some rock climbing at the end of the weekend.

A cigar, some scotch, and a campfire ... the good life.
